Knights of Columbus pew kneeler project brings comfort to St. Agnes Church in West Chester

When parishioners at St. Agnes Church in West Chester, PA kneel in prayer, they now do so with a renewed sense of comfort — thanks to the dedication of Knights of Columbus Council 1333. 

The Pew Kneeler Project, organized by the council, addressed a long-standing need at the parish. Over the years, the church’s 100 year-old kneelers had become worn and uncomfortable, with broken supports, missing hinges and vinyl worn from decades of faithful use. Council members recognized an opportunity to serve their parish community in a meaningful, lasting way, providing over 260 man hours to the project though May of 2026.

Through fundraising efforts and volunteer coordination, the Knights raised the necessary funds to refurbish and replace kneelers throughout the church. Members donated not only their financial support but also countless hours of hands-on labor, removing old kneelers, installing new padding, and ensuring every pew was restored to excellent condition.

The project reflects the core mission of the Knights of Columbus — charity, unity, and service — put directly into action at the local level. For the parishioners of St. Agnes, the impact is felt every Sunday and throughout the week, each time they kneel in worship.

Council 1333 continues to seek opportunities to strengthen and support the West Chester community, one project at a time.
